About the steamer
Before the first note, the opening line, or a room full of expectant faces, allow yourself a proper pause. The Ye Olde Bells Victorian Vocal Steamer pairs a warm-steam ritual with a pleasing sense of occasion. Set it on a suitable surface, settle into your chair, and give the next few minutes their own quiet ceremony.
Inspired by the classic Victorian earthenware inhalers of 1860s London, this ceramic set pairs an old-world silhouette with a straightforward ritual. Simply fill it with hot (not boiling) water and breathe the warm steam. A tealight in the ceramic warmer base is entirely optional and only keeps the water warm for longer. No electricity, no cords, no batteries. Just a considered object and a moment with the unhurried air of an English parlour.
For singers, choir members, voice actors, and anyone who spends much of the day speaking, a familiar routine can give the moments before a performance their own quiet rhythm. Make this vocal steamer for singers a warm-steam companion to your vocal warm-up: five to ten minutes with the script closed, the phone put aside, and nothing to rehearse just yet.
The white glazed ceramic vessel has a side spout and handle, a black heritage label with a hand-bell logo, and a clear glass mouthpiece fitted through a rubber stopper. Below it, three round vents give the ceramic candle-warmer base its distinctive character. It is a piece to enjoy looking at as much as using—a rather thoughtful gift for someone whose calendar revolves around rehearsals, recordings, or opening nights.
Long before plug-in personal steam inhalers, the Victorians made theirs from glazed earthenware. Ours follows that classic Victorian silhouette: a non-electric steam inhaler with no cords, no plugs and no batteries. Just add hot water. The vented ceramic warmer base takes an optional tealight if you’d like the water to stay warm a little longer. It looks just as at home on a piano lid or a bookshelf as it does on a rehearsal-room table. Rather handsome, if we may say so.

I have been a musician/ vocalist for most of my life, … this charming device works a treat, I read a lot of reviews about the rechargeable types with mixed opinions, this old fashioned type works for me, & is traditional …
I really liked how cute this steam inhaler is. It is really easy to use and lasts quite a bit of time with the tealights. It is also an nice piece of decoration.
daughter loves it to help with her singing

The ritual
Fill with plain hot water, fit the mouthpiece, and set aside five to ten minutes. Add a tealight in the vented base if you would like the warmth to linger. No cords, no batteries, precious little fuss: a small ceremony before rehearsal, recording or the first class of the day.
A little hush before the first note, from weekly choir practice to opening night.
Set the script aside. Even the best lines can wait a moment before you press record.
A proper pause before the classroom fills or the microphone is yours.
Victorian character and a little ceremony: a rather thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates both.

Use plain warm water only. Never pour in boiling water straight off the boil. Let freshly boiled water cool for a few minutes; fill only once warm, to the indicated line below the side spout.

No. The steamer works with hot water alone: fill it, fit the mouthpiece and breathe the warm steam. The tealight warmer is optional and simply keeps the water warm for longer. If you do use one, stay with it and extinguish it after your session.
It needs no electricity, cords or batteries. Hot water provides the steam; an optional tealight in the vented base keeps the water warm for longer. If you light one, stay with it for the entire session.
Let everything cool fully (and make sure any tealight is out), then empty the vessel and gently separate the parts. Hand wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and air dry. Do not use a dishwasher, microwave, stove, or oven.
The ceramic steam vessel, ceramic warmer base, clear glass mouthpiece tube, rubber stopper, optional tealight candles, and tweezers for handling a tealight. The assembled set is approximately 6 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.
